Artistic director - Jordan Travis

Jordan Travis, the visionary Founding Artistic Director, has been the driving force behind numerous musical ensembles and projects in the Halton/Hamilton area. With a deep-seated passion for music and teaching, especially vocal music, Jordan has made a remarkable impact on the local and international music scene.

Jordan's journey in music began with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Toronto, where he honed his craft under the guidance of some of the industry's finest teachers in vocal performance, pedagogy, and choral conducting. As a gifted singer, decorated performer, and influential coach, Jordan has captivated audiences and inspired students worldwide. His expertise has been showcased through workshops, coaching sessions, and performances across the globe, including prestigious engagements at BinG Harmony College, BABS Music Director's Academy, Harmony College in Holland, the Association of British Choral Directors, and Harmony University in Nashville.

Currently, Jordan serves as the Artistic Director of the Harbourtown Sound, A Cappella Showcase, and Golden Horseshoe Choruses, where his dynamic leadership continues to elevate and energize these ensembles. His dedication to vocal excellence and his ability to inspire both singers and audiences alike make Jordan Travis a true luminary in the world of vocal music.

 


Musical Director - Amy Patterson





Amy Patterson (Hon. B.A., cum laude; B.Ed.) grew up in a musical family and has always had a passion for the arts. She is a respected educator in the Waterloo Region District School board, recently serving on a team to create resources to teach Music in French for grades 1 through 8. Amy specializes in teaching French as a Second Language and Music to primary grades.

Amy enjoys singing in various ensembles, including A Cappella Showcase (where she is also the Associate Director) and Sapphire quartet. She is a certified Singing Judge in Harmony, Incorporated, and recently became the Singing Category Specialist. She travels throughout Canada and the U.S. as an adjudicator and coach. Amy has served on the faculties for Harmony College West (ON), HIVE (Harmony Inc Virtual Education), and Harmony University (New Orleans, LA). In May 2024, Amy was an assistant for the inaugural Young Voice session, and is excited to return in the fall as a Musical Director. 




 



Musical Director - Michelle Bender


Michelle Bender is a dynamic and passionate Teacher of the Arts with the Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB). With a Bachelor of Music in Voice and a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University, Michelle combines her academic expertise with a rich tapestry of real-world experience.

An accomplished performer, Michelle has graced the stage with numerous local theatre companies. Some of her favorite roles include Missy in "The Marvelous Wonderettes" with HPG, Guinevere in "Camelot," and Amy in "Company" with DLTP. Her love for performance extends to her current role as the Associate Director of Skyway Connection Chorus, where she also sings tenor with the acclaimed Wicked Pitches Quartet.

Michelle’s passion for music education shines through her extensive work as the Co-Founder of the Queens Student Opera Company. With over 20 years of experience, she has directed numerous Children's Musical Theatre productions and led award-winning choirs, Glee Clubs, and Concert Bands. Her innovative approach and dedication have inspired countless students, fostering a love for the arts in her community.

Looking ahead, Michelle is excited to collaborate with young voices, nurturing their talents and instilling a deep appreciation for the arts, particularly the beautiful and challenging realm of a cappella singing. Her commitment to her students and her craft continues to make a lasting impact on everyone she teaches.
